We are Robert & Lavinia, we are certified Isha Hatha Yoga teachers after completing 1750 hours of training at Isha Yoga Center, Southern India. We are based in Bucharest, Romania, where we have a yoga studio, but also teach classes in other European countries. Each of us has spent approximately 2 years in India, imbibing its energy and spiritual riches. In terms of our educational background, we have studied Philosophy & Politics at Lancaster University (UK), respectively Marketing at the Academy of Economic Studies (Romania).
In 2022 we started a new endeavour called Shambho Journeys, which aims to put spiritual seekers in touch with places of spiritual significance, consecrated spaces, places of power, which in turn propels their inner spiritual process. The outer journey supports the inner journey. In the words of Hermes Trismegistus: “As above, so below. As within, so without. As the Universe, so the Soul.”
So the first aspect in everything that we do here is the Spirit.
The second aspect that we cater for in these journeys is Nature, our dearest Mother Earth, who has bestowed Life unto us and who nourishes it unconditionally. Nature is the Primordial Temple, with its raw energy of life. Sadhguru tells us that: Those cultures which looked upon the Earth as mother and had a worshipful attitude towards that never caused too much damage to the environment around them. It only happened where people saw conquest as the way of life. After doing all this damage to the planet, half the people still cannot even eat properly though there is enough food on the planet. If the feminine was dominant, the population would eat for sure. Compassion, love and aesthetics would be dominant, not conquest.
And the third aspect is Adventure. We feel that the Call to Adventure is an intrinsic force within every one of us, a Beckoning of the Spirit, which some choose to answer, and some do not. In the words of Joseph Campbell: Destiny has summoned the hero and transferred his spiritual center of gravity from within the pale of his society to a zone unknown. This fateful region of both treasure and danger may be variously represented: as a distant land, a forest, a kingdom underground, beneath the waves, or above the sky, a secret island, lofty mountain top, or profound dream state; but it is always a place of strangely fluid and polymorphous beings, unimaginable torments, superhuman deeds, and impossible delight.
Spirit, Nature & Adventure – this is the essence of Shambho Journeys. And what ties these three together? Shambho – “the Auspicious One”, the gentle form of Shiva, which is non-physicality personified. It is a sacred sound, which serves as a key to the Universe, as a channel to Shiva. In this sense, we do not organise tourist trips, but pilgrimages for spiritual seekers – Yatras – designed for the core of the human being. Everything that we do, we do under the auspices of Shambho.
